Restoration & Rebirth of FIAT PALIO 1.6 GTX SP (Petrol) Galaxy Black (2003 Model) - Page - 2

FIAT Palio is an awesome piece of automobile engineering. Italian by Birth.

The Fiat Palio is a supermini car produced by the Italian manufacturer Fiat since 1996. 

It is a world car, developed by Fiat and aimed at developing countries. It has been produced in various countries worldwide, its platform was also used in the Siena sedan, the Palio Weekend station wagon, the Palio Adventure crossover and the Strada light pick-up truck.

I have 3 of them in the 1.6 1600 cc Avatar with me now.

The restoration & rebirth of FIAT Palio 1.6 GTX Galaxy Black started from 15th Dec and as on today 20th December in 5 Days it has been completely transformed at World of Service Multi Brand Car Care Center in Chennai. Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Almost everything is now fully restored in the FIAT Palio and repairs done except outer full coat painting. 

The Car looks dull & faded because of last few years of exposure in outside sun and neglect not parked in shade / under roof has made the paint to fade and look dull.

I will be getting it completely repainted soon after my trip.

The Palio had some rusting issue at the bottom of passenger seat area and needed tinkering done.

The Palio was stand still for long and we ensured to take care of each & every area and there are too many photos taken during the entire process. I will share the main ones.

1, Front Suspension completely changed. We installed brand new Front & Rear Shock Absorbers.

2. Installed brand new Lower Arms, Tie Rod Ends.

3. Checked all the Wheel bearings, brake pads, brake shoes, brake calipers.

4. Checked the Clutch System. Removed Gear Box and checked the clutch plate it was good, replaced the clutch release bearing. Cleaned the gear box. Re-installed the gear box.

5. Drive Shaft with CV Joint completely changed and installed.

6. Installed Brand New DENSO Iridium Spark Plugs. Checked the Spark Plug cables.

7. We filled Fully Synthetic Engine Oil, changed the Gear Box Oil, Power Steering Oil & Brake Oil. Changed Radiator Coolant. Installed new Air Filter & Oil Filter. 

8. Checked the Radiator Fan Motor & Fan Speed. Checked the Radiator coolant for Heating, checked the temperature sensor.

9. Checked the fuel sending & receiving unit.

10. Cleaned the petrol tank completely and we filled fresh petrol. Changed the Fuel Filter.

11. We dismantled the entire dash board and checked each & every wire & ensured that everything is OK & Fine.

12. Checked the wiper motor, wiper assembly. Wiper blades with rubber changed.

13. Checked the complete electrical system. Window winders, brake lights, head lights, fog lights all bulbs changed to new.

14. Installed brand new DIN 60 Battery.

15. Installed brand new Bridgestone Radial Tyres on all 4 Alloys and also a brand new tyre for the spare stephny wheel. Wheel alignment and balancing done.

16. Got the head lamp cleaned & buffed and it has come out as good as new.

17. Checked & installed the seat belts, front & rear.

18. Got the AC Compressor, cooling coil & heater coil checked thoroughly and got the AC System cleaned.

FIAT Palio 1.6 GTX was finally delivered to me at early morning 1.45 AM. We hardly had any time to take her out for any road test. We just did a small drive around to check all major parameters.

We trusted in GOD and then said let us face challanges as they come. There were few things pending to be done in the car.

1. New Tyres were installed but wheel alignment wasn't ye done yet as the car could not be taken the wheel alignment place due to all the works that were being done on the car. So we decided we will do it on 21st December on the way after I start.

2. The AC Gas wasnt yet filled up as we could not do it. We decided we will do it en-route our journey.

3. There wasnt a music system in the car. We again decided to do it en-route.

So here I was with a Car that was wonderfully and skillfully worked ad finally prepared by WORLD OF SERVICE - Multi Brand Car Care Center at Kolapakkam in Chennai for my long distance road trip.

I brought the car home by 2.15 AM and from then on myself and Jamuna together we started loading up our packed stuff into the small hatchback for a very long journey. We finally completed everything by 3.15 AM. 

Jamuna insisted me to take 2 hours of rest as I was completely stretched by the last 5 days of work on the car and insisted on me to take a break and rest. We all were pretty excided for the early morning start we were going to start on 21st December 2016 at morning 6 AM.
